A new instrument designed and made by Linsey Pollak. The Cylisax is a single reed instrument with a cylindrical bore with a branching tube just below the mouthpiece making it open both ends. Because of this it overblows at the octave like a saxophone. It also sounds more like a soprano sax than a clarinet, behaving like a conical bore single reed instrument. It has the range of one and a half octaves from middle C to g. It uses a soprano sax mouthpiece and is made from irrigation pipe. It was initially inspired by Yamaha's new wind instrument The Venova.
