the curious case of jason derulo's tik tok
Hey everyone welcome back to my channel!!! hope you guys are all doing well and staying safe~ today we’re going to be looking at tik tok again but instead of looking at a certain community like we have in the past with the tik tok pov or pranking communities, we’re just looking at one creator who i’m sure a lot of you guys know outside of tik tok- jason derulo! if you havent come across him before he’s well known as a singer and for delivering us generation-defining classics such as whatcha say (truly, iconic). (also idk if its just me but it seems like theres a snowball effect going on with tons of celebrities joining tik tok in general). for some reason though he decided to try out tik tok and has been crazy successful with it, at the time of writing this description he’s got over 20 million followers which is insane! no idea why he decided to give the app a go in the first place but it’s clear its working out pretty well for him (minus the whole chipping his teeth on the corn he attached to a …drill thing?)
i initially came across his tik tok through twitter because a ton of people were reposting his tik toks out of initial confusion more than anything so i thought it would be fun to go through his tik toks for a video and see what everyone’s talking about! as i mention in the video it seems like his presence on tik tok is quite divisive (not actually, but you guys know what i mean lol) where people are either crowning him the “king of tik tok” or just think he’s cringe. i personally am somewhere in the middle, its pretty cool to see a celebrity want to have a presence on an app like tik tok and actually put effort into what he posts versus just reposting low effort content that screams “im only doing this because my manager told me to get on this app” but there are definitely some cringey clips lol. we’ll be looking through a good chunk of it though so let me know what you guys think of his tik tok after the video!
