In this leg of our Land of Enchantment journey, we explore some of the most surprising, beautiful, and science-filled stops we’ve ever visited — from the New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo, to the historic Sunspot Solar Observatory, to finally seeing the Very Large Array in person after wanting to visit for years.
Along the way, we also make a stop at the world’s largest pistachio, camp among dramatic desert and mountain landscapes, explore Valley of Fires, wander remote country near the Quebradas, and take in some of the wild beauty that makes New Mexico feel unlike anywhere else.
This episode really felt like a journey through the past, present, and future of innovation — from early rocket and missile history, to giant radio telescopes listening to the universe, to modern technology that could change the way people explore outdoors.
