The ZM Weapons LR-300 is one of the strangest and most forward-thinking evolutions of the AR-15 platform. By relocating the recoil system above the barrel, the LR-300 eliminated the need for a conventional buffer tube and allowed the use of a true folding stock years before bufferless AR-style rifles became common. In this video, we dig into the history of the LR-300, Allan Zitta and ZM Weapons, the rifle’s unusual operating system, and the design choices that made it so different from a standard AR-15.
Then we take the LR-300 to the range, shoot the hell out of it, and break the entire rifle down autism-style to see exactly how it works.
