The Concubine was once a very politically minded woman. The story goes she quite respected men of power, to the extent of regarding them with awe. She was involved with one such man, but, ultimately lost his affections to another who rather viciously beat and scarred her. Pleasant, huh? In the end, she pledged her soul to Ahriman in exchange for the power of illusion. Why, i'm not entirely clear on, but my guess is that she wanted to hide her marred visage behind a veil of beauty that would make men bend to her will, i suppose.
