Hey whatsup guys OSG back with another episode of The Commodore 64 Years.
This time we’re counting down the 20 best Commodore 64 games of 1987, a year that many fans see as the absolute peak of the system. By now developers completely understood the hardware, publishers were firing on all cylinders, and the quality across the board was insanely high.
From genre-defining classics like Sid Meier’s Pirates! and Maniac Mansion, to arcade-perfect conversions such as Bubble Bobble and Buggy Boy, 1987 delivered hit after hit. We also saw cinematic experiences from companies like Cinemaware, technical showcases like IK+, and some truly unforgettable characters and soundtracks.
As always, this list is a countdown, based on critical reception, legacy, and how these games are remembered today — not just personal favourites (even though Platoon will always be special to me).
