At the lake’s edge of the I launched the drone into a cloudless blue sky with zero wind. The lake was like glass. I flew across the lake above Shadow Mountain Lake to capture video footage of the lake. The perspective was perfect. The lake surface was like glass.
A perfect day for flying. I turned the drone around an slowly searched the peninsula’s and islands shoreline with the telephoto lens so as not to be heard by any wildlife. Above 200 feet the drone is completely silent.
The view was beautiful but not a single moose.
Shazam a surreal vision of a moose’s rear end walking away in the distance parallel to the road. I thought I must be hallucinating! We were at around 12,000 above sea level on a baron mountain top tens of miles from the nearest willow bush and there was a solotary bull moose. Likely a juvenile due to his size, although still larger that a large horse, but with spike antlers. I shot a quick 10 second video to be sure then hurried back to the car.
