So the film series; The Collector has two movies out now, and apparently a script for the third movie has been made.
The Collector (2009) was made by the makers of SAW I, II & III, it was originally supposed to be a prequel to SAW, explaining how Jigsaw (John Kramer) started his work, however it was quickly dismissed and changed to be it's own film. Its budget was around 4 million, and coupled with its theatre release and it's DVD sales it has made just under 10 million.
In 2012 we saw a sequel to the film titled; The Collection, this too was a low budget movie and only released in some markets in America. The movie continues on right where the first leaves off, explaining more details about the man who is known as The Collector. This budget was just under 10 million, and just with it's theatre release it has made 8 million, the exact number of DVD sales have not yet been made public, however it's estimated that it has made another 4 million on DVDs.
Combined budget for both films is $14 million and has estimated brining in 14 million, basically breaking even.
A third script has been made and was finalized sometime in January 2013. It is unknown if this movie titled; The Collected will be made or not, it's estimated to need a budget of between $12-$15 million, which means they are hoping to make at least $20 million between theatre release and DVDs.
They have problems getting into bigger markets due to low budgets, though the films are quite good, most people still aren't aware of these films existing, they are hoping with it's Halloween TV release this October they can get more fans into it so they can have bigger budgets and push this series to main stream.
Rumored is a script in the rough draft stages right now for a fourth film titled; The Collective, I only hope we can see the third and fourth films made, it's a really good series, and since SAW ended, there has been nothing worthwhile watching, just typical ghost story movies, and the public likes getting scared of nothing, something so childish.
For those who haven't watched The Collector series, I highly recommend it, it was labelled as this: "Fun for SAW fans, unpleasant for everyone else."
