The popularity of China’s ‘throwing eggs’ card game is skyrocketing, despite official warnings that it is an addictive waste of time. Played since the 1960s in the eastern provinces of Anhui and Jiangsu, Guandan has become a national sensation in recent years, with an estimated 140 million people hooked.
