Self- Writeousness | The Chimes: A Goblin Story by Charles Dickens @SelfWriteousness | Uploaded December 2023 | Updated October 2024, 14 hours ago.
00:01 Random outtakes because wind is dumb
00:09 Smarter people's thoughts on Dickens
00:36 Plot summary part 1
02:03 Trotty's Tripe and parallels to Oliver Twist
02:51 Plot summary part 2
04:41 Why this silly story matters to me this particular year
Well, it's Dickens Season again (like Duck Season only different).
This time, we're taking a look at The Chimes wherein we find that both the rich - like Scrooge in an earlier work - and the poor like Toby Veck get haunted during the holiday season but for different reasons. Also, despite my cheating a bit and bringing this video out in time for Christmas, it is actually a Dickens New Year story, probably for thematic reasons.
In case you're interested in the art and artists from whom I cribbed many notes in the making of this video, feel free to check out the animated clay version of The Chimes:

...and the audio book to which I listened:

Thanks for visiting the channel.
I am something of an antisocial eccentric, but I am actively trying to be more of a blessing than a curse to my fellow writers.
