As the movie about to air in NA, I decided to put up a video about TM Opera O. In the videos I have seen many focuses mostly on the rise and epic from this grand horse. But to me, I wanted to focus on the tragic side, or the human side to put it the best. Because he was essentially a very complicated horse
more importantly, this is not a story that can be told through TM Opera O alone. TM Opera O and Wada Ruiji, without either one of them, this story would not be complete. So I decided to emphasize on a more human story rather than his glory
But while I was making the video, I realize: huh~ I've made a lot of emotionally driven, reflective videos. I am not sure how the audience really like them if I keep doing it, but I want to do something that's fun and excited
If things went well my next series will be focus on the different members of the Stay Gold family
Not only are they fun, a family of horses that's not only fascinating
but also full of personality and chaos in the best way possible
I want to change up a little bit about my style of the video and experiment for this series

Pedigree analysis:
TM Opera's Satsuki Sho was a great example to show the distinct part of his pedigree
First, we know that he is from the line of Sadler's Wells. Progeny of Sadler's Wells are known for their powerful forelegs which is a very distinct trait from European racing style. While this trait can be somewhat neutralized at Tokyo’s 2400m. The Satsuki Sho takes place in Nakayama, a course that tests a horse's complete skill set. In fact, just by comparing to his run style in that race to others, you will see his chest moves much stronger that others in the track
But what really stood out in that race for me was his best traits from Wild Risk. Wild Risk is a common name we see in pedigree that supplys stamina. But if a horse is able to inheret the positive part from him, the result is something far more special:
that horse can run in any race pattern in any position. Whether it is leading, stalking, closing
But that's when you inherit the postive qualities from him. If a horse inherits the wrong side of Wild Risk, the horse can be very hard to control, volatility. Therefore, it is a double-edged sword
TM Opera definitely got the best part from him: very easy to control, capable to run in any position under pressure
A modern example of a horse that inherited Wild Risk's positive qualities is Kitasan Black. He was exceptionally easy to ride, adaptable to any running style, and this versatility has clearly carried over to his progeny, many of whom thrive under a wide range of race strategies.
I also find Blushing Groom a great match for the Sadler's Wells line in Japan. Because the mid-section chasing speed is much more intense than Europe. Often times Sadler's Wells blood need requires near-perfect timing to perform at its best in Tokyo (but if it is under 10f which does not require a lot of mid-section chasing then it's able to shine). But Blushing Groom helps offset that limitation
Blushing Groom line also is a great to thrive on the Grand Prix. This is why Chrono Genesis, a horse from the modern age that's not from sunday silence or Kingmambo was such a horse
When you put all of this together, TM Opera O emerges as a horse with a strongly European pedigree. His greatest performance in the Arima reflects that heritage:
the ability to fight through traffic
absorb physical pressure
and the ability ro instantly shift into top gear when sprinting
Many people say it is unfortunate he never competes in Europe which I understand. Thus said, if he would have gone to Europe, Japan would probably send him to the Arc. But the Arc winner in 2000 and 2001 were Sinndar and Sakhee, even among all the Arc winners these two belong to the very strongest. Judging by the fact Japanese training typically translates poorly for European racing. Perhaps it was both fortunate and unfortunate Opera never went to Europe.
