This is the first part of The Cenote Sessions, a live performance recorded deep in a cenote in Yucatán, Mexico. We were pretty far from modern civilization and the natural surroundings shaped every note of this music.
This synthesizer improvisation was inspired by the sky, the birds soaring above, and the echo of water drops all around me. The synth was recorded in a single take, with post production back in the studio. I recorded the midi too so I added some extra layers of synths later on like FM tones.
The Mininova was powered by a MyVolts power bank (since there was no electricity!)
