The Case Study of Vanitas, with its newly released season 2 in 2022, is a vampire anime with an original take on what usually makes a popular, but standard and very watch-able anime. The Case Study of Vanitas' first season let us spy on the titular doctor, his odd couple companion Noe, and their respective love interests Jeanne and Domi. These relationships were romanticized, but very unideal, relying on manipulation more so than love, and everyone had skeletons in their closets. 2022's new season two, rather than carrying on the ideas, brought in additional characters who had much less depth than say Vanitas, Noe, Jeanne, exceptionally inconsistent motivations, supreme messaging issues, and even more. The best example of this is the new girl Chloe d'Apchier, and her love interest Jean- Jacques. Chloe herself brings in even more characters in her family, who determine part of her motivation, despite being almost literal nobodies. Together, they let us spy a look at how an entire half season can be wasted, and showed us why the first season's focus was so important...
