In this webinar we discuss the particular experience of democratic self-government of migration that has developed in Riace (Calabria), an interesting case study for understanding the evolution of the migration phenomenon in Italy.
Fulvia Teano and Alessandro Tedde, co-editors of this eDossier by Sinistra XXI, will present a multidisciplinary analysis of the case of Riace and the broader context of Italian migration policies following three particular aspects of international relevance: the failure to establish a global regulatory mechanism for confronting the phenomenon, the securitarian management of the migration crisis, and the related distorted media narrative.

Alessandro Tedde
Founder of Sinistra XXI, lawyer, and jurist. He graduated in constitutional law at the University of Sassari (Italy), and got a postgraduate degree in Parliamentary Studies and Research in Florence. He is currently attending the PhD in European Union Law and National Legal Systems at the University of Ferrara.
Fulvia Teano
Graduated from a Master's Degree, works as an IT security analyst. Her research focus concerns primarily the study of fake news regarding migration and the role of government and civil society organizations in combating xenophobia and racism in the media.
