Everybody knows the carrion crawler as the paralysis monster. That's not what makes it dangerous. What makes it dangerous is that it rolls eight separate attacks every round it's in melee — more than double a ghoul, and multiples of what a gnoll, bugbear, ogre, or wight get at similar hit dice. This one breaks down the actual math behind those eight rolls, why volume matters more than any single tentacle's odds, and the one thing a referee can control that the book's stat line can't: where you put the fight.
