With all the talks about dreams and reality between Inception and Matrix, I figured there was a way I could link the two, and then I read about Chuang Tzu. Always been fascinated by those two worlds, took a while to break the story, but it was fun to make. Enjoy!
Plot: After the events of The Matrix Revolutions, The Architect frees all of those from the Matrix, including himself. Despite being a program, he finds himself falling for a human in the Matrix, Mal. So he intercepts the mind of Dom Cobb, and after some time finds himself not knowing which reality is more real: him dreaming he was The Architect or him dreaming he was Dom Cobb. The Butterfly Dream.
With Dom Cobb’s constant search for inception, he ends up planting the idea that this world is the Matrix in Mal’s head. So, after Mal commits suicide, the machines choose not a program, but her to rebuild the next Matrix now that she’s free. As repayment, she resurrects Trinity, Morpheus, Neo (an oligarch now) and Cobb in the new Matrix without their original memories, thus tormenting them in the new Matrix. Cobb’s team must dream scape into Neo’s now coded mind to find some truths, like is this the Matrix and if so, can it be stopped? Who else is resurrected? And who is Dom Cobb really: a man or the original Architect?
