Though Bjorn stands as a semi-legendary figure in Scandinavian tradition, his memory endures not only in saga and song but also in stone. A great burial mound — known as Bjorns barrow — still rises in the region of Uppland, Sweden. Atop it once stood a runestone, bearing an ancient inscription. Though time has fractured the stone into pieces, its presence marks a physical link to the world of Viking kings and mythic heroes over a millennium old.
