By the winter of 1944, Nazi Germany was collapsing. Soviet forces were driving westward without pause. Allied bombers turned German cities into burning ruin whilst allied ground forces had broken out from Normandy and were advancing steadily toward the German border. Inside Germany, desperation was beginning to infect the Nazi leadership. Their armies were worn out, fuel was running low and yet Adolf Hitler remained obsessed with the idea that one decisive counterattack could shatter the Allies. That desperate gamble became known as the Battle of the Bulge. But during this battle was one of the more disturbing tactics employed by the Germany military: Operation Greif (Gr-eye-ff). In todays video, we will look at Operation Greif and the disturbing executions of the Nazi soldiers sent on this strange mission.
