British rule in Burma lasted from 1824 to 1948.The British colony of Burma was part of the British run-state in India, the Empire of India, from 1824 to 1937.
Before 1950’s Rangoon was a majority Indian town (Hindus and Indian Muslims). A few thousand Brits brought a few hundred thousand Indians as an administrative and law enforcement buffer against a few million natives.
