In this documentary we journey to the most volatile region on Earth, the Pacific Ring of Fire, to reveal an unlikely connection between a seabird that fears the water and a blind shrimp that thrives in the abyss. We follow the Sooty Tern, a paradox of the skies that spends years on the wing without ever touching the ocean, and the Alvin Shrimp, a creature that lives in total darkness beside boiling volcanic vents. Linked by the "moods" of underwater volcanoes, these two species represent the ultimate story of adaptation, where the very eruptions that destroy life also provide the chemical energy and waypoints necessary for the next generation to survive.
