For the past 17 years the-elite.net have been the gatekeepers of perfect dark speedrunning. Housing the official rankings, and being the central hub for speedrunners to converse on forums and other social platforms. But it didn’t begin this way, and with the influx of newer players over the years, and the inevitable departure of older ones, the story of the birth and growth of perfect dark speedrunning has become largely forgotten. Join me now as we explore the beginnings of one of the largest and longest lived speedrunning communities on the planet.

Thanks heaps to a couple of legends CorTat (Snapdragon) and Ceruelean86 (Ngamer) who helped read some quotes. Also huge thanks to Ngamer who saved a lot of pages and kept track of the early Perfect Dark history.

Next video I will be starting a series that looks at past Perfect Champ champions and gives a brief overview of their career and contributions to the community.
