Killer Film Reviews - Tony Bush | The Big Red One - One For The Ages @tonybush555 | Uploaded September 2022 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
It may interest you to know (or it may not, no way of telling) that I’ve been putting this video together over a period of three months off and on. It’s been something I would do a bit of, then leave it, then go back to it, do a bit more, then leave it again. Not how I’d normally go about things. I got it about 75% done about three weeks ago, but looked at what I had, found I didn’t like it and decided to park it indefinitely. Something about it just wasn’t working for me. I came to the end of the McQ vid and once I’d pulled myself together with a few stiff drinks thought I’d take another look rather than go straight into something new, as time is more of an issue for me now. Running through it again with the benefit of strong alcohol I found it wasn’t necessarily any better or worse than anything else I’d done. Booze is such a game changer. So I quickly added some stuff, did a bit more editing, excised some tedious meandering passages of rambling codswallop (some but not all, as you may see), and then had something resembling a completed cut – insofar as I was prepared to go with it. Then I gave some deep thought for a full soul searching fifteen seconds to whether I felt it worth uploading. Is it worth anyone’s time and attention? The film itself most definitely is and deserves far better than I can give it, but as for this review, well, I don’t know the answer to that, so I’ll leave it to anyone who watches it to decide. For better or for worse, Samuel Fuller's The Big Red One.
