We've all done it.
Maybe we weren't the one who started the conversation. Maybe we didn't spread the rumor. Maybe we were just standing there, listening... nodding along... adding a comment here and there.
But at what point does listening become participating?
In this video, I take an honest look at something I've personally been struggling with lately: gossip. Not the loud, obvious kind that most of us would immediately recognize, but the subtle, everyday kind that quietly slips into conversations with friends, family, coworkers, and even fellow believers.
This isn't a sermon. It isn't a lecture. It's simply a candid conversation about conviction, shame, repentance, and learning to guard our words—and even our ears—a little more carefully.
The Bible has a lot to say about the power of our speech. It warns that gossip destroys trust, damages friendships, and stirs up conflict, while also calling us to use our words to encourage, heal, and build one another up. Just as importantly, Scripture reminds us that when we stumble, we're not meant to stay buried under shame. Conviction is meant to lead us back toward God, not drive us away from Him.
I share some of my own recent experiences, the lessons the Lord has been teaching me, and why I think this is one of those "small" sins that can quietly have some very big consequences if we're not paying attention.
