The Bible doesn't contain the word "dinosaur."
Skeptics treat that like it settles the whole argument. Our new debunked video breaks down the exact syllogism people use: the Bible doesn't mention dinosaurs, therefore dinosaurs didn't live with humans, therefore the Bible is wrong about everything.
It sounds airtight until you actually examine each premise. Here's what usually gets left out: the English word "dinosaur" wasn't even invented until around 1841.
The King James Bible was translated roughly two hundred years before that word existed. We wouldn't expect to find an English word in a translation completed centuries before it was coined, in any language, for that matter.
But scripture does use other language to describe massive, powerful creatures. The Hebrew word tannin, translated dragon, serpent, or sea monster depending on context, appears 28 times.
Behemoth, described in Job 40 as a massive herbivore with a tail like a cedar, bones like iron, and undaunted by rushing water, appears once.
Leviathan, described in Job 41 as an armored sea creature that breathes fire and smoke and is nearly impossible to capture, appears five times. Whether some of this language leans poetic or not, it sure sounds a lot like what most of us would call a dinosaur.
