With family values at the heart of everything they do, Big Thicket Outfitters helps visitors reconnect with nature and each other.
The Piñata Man – After being laid off from a tech job, Alfonso Hernandez rebuilt his life through an unexpected craft: giant, hand-sculpted piñatas. From superheroes to life-size horror icons, Alfonso creates custom papier-mâché masterpieces out of his Dallas garage studio.
Simple Promise Farms – In Elgin, Brandon Guinn and his team are transforming lives through agriculture. Simple Promise Farms is a mission-driven nonprofit that supports people recovering from addiction by giving them meaningful work, community, and purpose. What began as a father’s hope for his son has grown into a working farm that helps individuals rebuild their lives one harvest, one day at a time.
