When was the peak of Western Civilization? More importantly, what metrics can we judge history when looking for the "best" time period? Here we look at several angles for how we might think of a peak of civilization: technologically, morally (and religiously), artistically, by the standard of living, in terms of war and peace, and also in terms that Spengler and Dawson would describe as the "character" of the West. From the Medieval period through today, we find that no single time in history appears to be the best in all these categories.
