What are the best subjects for textured fine art papers?
In my previous video, I looked at textured papers and shared my tip for getting the most from them. In this follow-up, I’m looking at one particular genre of photography that I think can work exceptionally well with a textured surface – still life.
Still life photography gives you the opportunity to carefully control the subject, lighting and composition, and that makes it a really interesting genre to explore with textured fine art papers. The texture can become part of the overall look of the print, adding another layer to the image rather than simply reproducing the photograph.
In this video, I explain why I think still life is such a good match for textured papers, what I look for in an image and why the choice of paper can have such an important influence on the finished print.
