Want better hand independence without grinding through boring exercises?

In this lesson, I’ll show you a musical hand independence exercise that sounds great, feels satisfying to play, and gets surprisingly difficult as you work through the different stages.

We start with a simple Major 7 voicing, then use different rhythms in each hand - 8th notes in one hand and 16th notes in the other. From there, we’ll swap the rhythms, practice switching smoothly between them, and finally move the whole exercise through different keys.

Practice this for just a few minutes each day and it’s a great way to improve your hand coordination, rhythmic independence and overall control at the piano.

Take each step slowly and only move on once you can play the previous stage comfortably.
