hands down, the best and most organic and lively clean and crunch sounding tones i ever got out of an amp sim to this day, and i can promise you, i tried a lot of them
wow, in a blindest i would have betted i had the felt the tubes breathing, Well done Neural DSP, well done.
The target audiencee of this Amp Sims is surely towards the heavier genre of music, and yeah, the distortion sounds amazing too, but i think these amazing clean and crunches tones will be much overlooked by a wider range of audience.
In the main jam-ession , i´m just using one single preset in the amp sim, i adjust the input gain, and adjust the volume on the guitar itself, and rarely, i engage the hexdrive boost, but thats all.
But with these basically 2 controls, i´m able to go from sparkling clean to overdriven fuzzy crunch that absolutely feels amazing to play.
The first (heavy Example) was played with an Harley Benton Fusion II guitar, for left and right side i used different stock presets to gain more width and separation.
for the main live jam, i used a Nick Page Stratocaster with 3 Single Coils and 5 Way Switch, and later on a Nik Huber Krautster II Single Cut Les Paul Style Guitar with an Humbucker on the Bridge Position and a P90 on the Neck.
The Humbucker was also coil splitted from time to time as you can hear and see. this was just a fun jam, so please dont expect some string-artistery :D
i also made screenshots of my preset so that you can copy it if you like
because the fortin cali suite does not include some basic post-amp fx, i have used UAD-2 Capitol Chambers as Room Reverb and UAD-2 Copper Time Cube for Delays that are mixed in a bit.
A Proper Gain Staging is crucial on this one, if you pump the input gain up quite a bit, and roll the volume on the guitar back, you can get some very nice cleans and once you play harder, or turn the volume up a bit, i starts to saturate and excite and naturally thickens up the sounds, amazing
you can also experiment with a compressor before the amp, i have tried with the UAD-2 Distressor Plugin a bit and achieved great results
