~ About The Authors: The BeatBuds® is a musical concept with organic roots. Jonathan Jonah and Matthew Shapiro, both trained musicians, became the best of friends at the age of six, and began playing music together soon thereafter. Although life took them down different paths, their love for music always kept them connected.
Following a serious injury, Matthew was assigned to a rehabilitation center less than a block away from Jonathan's recording studio. As fate would have it, these two long-time friends found themselves spending a lot more time together exploring music and, ultimately, putting together the pieces of what would become their passion-- The BeatBuds®.
Inspired by spontaneous musical recordings of Jonathan's young nephews, and by Matthew's experiences in his daughter's early-age music classes, it became clear that writing their own children's music was the logical next step, as it proved to be the perfect way to entertain the children they loved so much.
And so, The BeatBuds® was born!
Jonathan and Matthew's main focus was to compose educational children's songs that were a bit more contemporary than traditional children's music, while maintaining a fun and lighthearted feel. They also set out to write music that was more "parent-friendly" in order to offer music that could be enjoyed by the whole family.
Jonathan's nephews and Matthew's daughter are the barometer for every song written and recorded, and their genuine reaction to what they hear helps the duo gauge whether or not a song will resonate with other kids. Once they felt that they had music that children would truly connect with, Jonathan and Matthew expanded The BeatBuds® brand by developing child-like personas based on themselves: Jonny Jingles and Matty Maracas. Ten songs later, they released their debut album, which was enthusiastically received by the kids and parents in their hometown of Los Angeles, California.
As their songs and brand gained recognition, they began to perform acoustically, and created an interactive platform for their shows in order to bring young children a "hands on," live musical experience.
Jonathan and Matthew now bring The BeatBuds® to your fingertips through a series of children's books, which compliment their innovative approach to children's music. They based their first book on the song that started it all: "All Aboard!"
