The complete guide to hiking the first half of the Beartooth High Route. The full route is 90 miles long and it's best done in two parts. Part one covers the first 45 miles.
The Beartooth Mountains are the epitome of high alpine hiking in Montana. This route is designed to traverse the entire Beartooth Range while staying as high as possible. It’s almost entirely off-trail in very rugged terrain. A high level on navigational experience and comfort in boulder hopping is required.
