With all of the headlines about Trump and Greenland lately, I figured it would be helpful to dive into the history of US involvement in Greenland during WWII to give some background and highlight an often overlooked aspect of the war. The Weather War in Greenland was fought over data that could change the outcome of major offensives and save or cost the lives of many soldiers. Greenland's natural resources were also extremely important to Allied success, with Cryolite mined in the area being used in the production of aluminum for Allied aircraft and many other war materials.
