We are moving out of Blender and taking our "cozy-creepy" basement into Unreal Engine 5 to turn this environment into a fully interactive experience.
Moving a modular kit between software always comes with hurdles. I ran into some issues with missing textures during the import, but we found some great workarounds. I used the Fab store to pull in high-quality Megascan materials to give the walls and floor that extra layer of grit, and utilized Unreal’s UV mapping tools to fix the alignment right inside the engine.
What’s new in this version:
Interactive Lighting: I set up a blueprint so the lights react to the player, turning on and off as you walk through the corridor.
The Muffin Quest: You can now run around the basement and collect muffins! Each pickup triggers a custom 2D sound effect to make the world feel more alive.
Atmospheric Polish: Taking those Blender concepts and pushing the post-processing and volumetric lighting to their limits.
We are so close to our 3,000 subscriber goal, and finishing this series feels like the perfect way to celebrate the growth of the channel. If you enjoyed seeing this project evolve from a few modular blocks into a playable game, please consider hitting that subscribe button!
Huge respect to ZeroBio for the original "Basement" series inspiration. This project wouldn't have happened without that initial spark.

Thank you all for following this 3-part journey. What should we build and make interactive next?
