Hello! My name is Matt Dahlberg!
I've been fortunate enough to teach and perform ukulele for the last 15 years, and am grateful to have made it my career. Being able to do what I love, while providing for my family, is something I treasure every day. While I started primarily as a player, over the years I've found teaching to be my joy. Connecting with students and helping them achieve their goals is the most rewarding and fulfilling opportunity I've had. However, it had been quite some time since I'd been inspired to create original music beyond the tutorials I've posted.
This Baritone album is very different for me -- It's a collection of melodies that I enjoy on the baritone as I've been discovering how to play it. While the baritone is similar to tenor, tonally it is very different for me, and learning it has been such a unique creative outlet for me over the last 8 months. This collection of 8 melodies includes 3 original songs, 2 covers, and 3 interludes. These explore the unique tone of this baritone ukulele and showcase the range and sustain. I got this beautiful 'Oli ukulele after a trip to Oahu and it has rekindled my love of learning and experimenting with playing and making music.
I'll be recording this album at The Ukulele Site, home of the best ukulele podcast around. In addition to capturing the audio for this project, video will be recorded as well to provide backers with a unique experience!
I didn't anticipate having such organic chemistry with the Baritone ukulele, so I'm elated to share these pieces of music with you!
