Shakespeares Globe | ‘The barge she sat in’ speech in rehearsals | Act II, scene 2 | Antony & Cleopatra | Summer 2024 @ShakespearesGlobe | Uploaded July 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
A love that changed the world.
When Roman general Antony first sets eyes on Egyptian queen Cleopatra, he is love-struck. Antony’s friend Enobarbus recounts the tale in this speech, performed here by the Company.
Our new bilingual production, which uses a mixture of BSL and Spoken English and is captioned throughout, will see the beauty of Shakespeare’s poetic play realised in two languages on the Globe stage.
Directed by Blanche McIntyre (Measure for Measure, Globe), Antony & Cleopatra plays in the Globe Theatre for six weeks only, from 4 August to 15 September: bit.ly/AntonyAndCleopatra2024
