Christian Version of Star-Spangled Banner:
O say, can you see by the radiant light
from the cross on the summit of Calvary gleaming,
a banner whose folds e'en through sin's darkest night,
o'er the lost souls of men have been graciously streaming.
'Tis the sign of the Love of our Father above
and His dear Son who died that Supreme Love to prove.
And this blood-purchased banner in mercy doth wave
as a token that Jesus is mighty to save.
Where the cohorts of evil in fearful array
'neath the black flag of hatred their forces are calling,
Lo! The blood-redeemed legions, more mighty than they,
are advancing, and see! how the dark hosts are falling!
And this ensign so bright, with its folds to the light,
shall be planted where floated the standard of night.
For this glorious banner in triumph shall wave
to the world the glad truth: He is mighty to save.
To this banner of Love our allegiance we own,
and our soul-saving army with loyal devotion
will pray for its conquest till Jesus alone
shall reign in all hearts on the land and the ocean,
till His peace and good will every bosom shall thrill,
and the harsh voice of warfare forever be still.
And this conquering banner in victory wave
to proclaim to the world: He is mighty to save.
