In this video, I begin a long awaited home build project - to make a canvas Baker campfire tent. Used since the mid 1800s by the early fur traders and voyageurs and given a new lease of fame by the legend Bill Mason, the Baker tent is perfect woodsman’s tent for all seasons.
Join me as I begin the build by making up the panels, hemming and reinforcing where the eyelets will be and sewing on the pole sleeves, zip and tie-backs. In part two, I will sew it all together, make up the poles and guy-lines and try it out!
