In today’s episode of the Atheist Experience, Secular Rarity and Armin Navabi, are given a message from god, before being joined by Dr. Ben for the grand finale.
Kristian, an atheist in Denmark, updates the hosts about a previous call where his son has converted to Islam and is now attending mosques. Let your son know that you love, care about him, and are concerned for his well being. Do you still have a good relationship with him? How present are you in his life? The highest priority is to make sure the bond is not lost. Trying to make him non-Muslim, will push him into the arms of Islam even further. Is there a gap you can figure out that is being filled with Islam? Did he have a friend group prior to the conversion? Islam takes advantage of the need for teens to be seen and part of a group. What scenario do you not want to see if your son were to remain in Islam? Don’t blame yourself and remember that many Muslim families have healthy relationships.
Jason, a theist in WI, has a message from god for the community: There will be a terrorist attack from inside the U.S. that will happen before the end of the year, the housing and stock markets will also crash, there will be major black outs, and the Angel of Death will bring massive death worldwide. How do you know this is from god? How does this message prove god’s existence? In January, when these things don’t come true, we hope you will be back to talk about it. How are these things different from what normally happens? Why will you not stop believing in god if only three of these things come true? How possible is it that you are misunderstanding this prophecy?
Baked Alaska in NY atheism is false because first principles can’t be justified. Do you even know what atheism is? When you grow up, you can call back.
Eleni in AZ, used to be an atheist, but had an experience like a dream during meditation after a Yoga class, that convinced her that god exists, and god is love. How does this one experience prove god exists? How do you know that these people from all the religions are right? What do you think of when people say their god is hate? Just swapping out god for love, universe or existence, changes what we call those things, and those words will no longer have utility. We already have a word called, “everything”. When you were an atheist, did you deny the existence of this thing you call “everything”?
Benjamin in AL had experiences that caused him to believe in god, and that Lucifer is actually the good guy. Where does your version of god come from? How do you know what books in the Bible are corrupt and which ones are not? Why are you using the Bible if it is not a good source? Why are your experiences sufficient? We are not denying that you had a personal experience, we just don’t accept that this is god.
Andre, an atheist in FL asks why people with disabilities are targeted actively by theists. Dr. Ben explains that people often think it is to test their faith. Armin informs us that It can be seen as a curse or misfortune from god.
