Out in The Reef there are mysterious predators of some kind that leave only radiation in their wake. These predators are known as the Aphelion and they are a persistent mystery as well as a persistent danger. Recognisable only by the brief shimmer that they leave before they attack, only Sjur Eido was known to have suffered an assault by the Aphelion and lived to tell the tale.
