The Big ART Shuttle Change: Your New Disneyland Strategy
The ART Shuttle system in Anaheim is officially ending on March 31, 2026, but don't let that ruin your Disney magic! I’ve put together a simple strategy to help you pick the best hotels within a 15-minute walk of the gates, so you never have to worry about a bus schedule again.
Plus, I’m sharing a "Plan B" secret: how to use the Toy Story Parking Lot shuttle as a free alternative if the closest hotels are booked up.
For those staying a bit further out, the City of Garden Grove just announced a brand-new shuttle service launching the last week of March 2026. It will serve 10 major hotels (including Great Wolf Lodge and Hyatt Regency) for a small fee, keeping you connected to the resort even after ART is gone.

FAQ: Navigating the ART Shutdown
"I heard the ART shuttle is gone, what do I do now?"
"Yeah, it’s a big change! Honestly, I’ve started telling my friends not to worry too much. If you can, try to snag a spot at one of the hotels on Harbor Blvd within a 15-minute walk. If those are full, just look for a place near the Toy Story Parking Lot. You can walk right into the lot and take the Disney bus for free. It’s a little secret that saves your legs and your budget!"
"Is the Toy Story bus really free if I’m not parking a car?"
"It really is! Disney doesn't check for a parking receipt to board the bus. As long as you can walk into the lot safely via the pedestrian paths, you’re good to go. Just remember to head toward the security tents first!"
"What if I stay further away in Garden Grove?"
"The city actually stepped up! There’s a new 'Garden Grove Shuttle' launching right as ART closes. It’s not free, but it’s a small fee and covers about 10 of the big hotels like the Hyatt Regency and Great Wolf Lodge."

![Dungeness Crab Price Tip & How We Cook Oysters 🦀
We were in Sonoma for the weekend and really wanted to get oysters from Tomales Bay, but the weather just didnt work out [00:07, 00:15]. We still managed to get some fresh oysters from a local store [00:15], and we also found Dungeness crabs on sale [02:06]! In this video, we wanted to share how we clean and cook both the oysters and the crabs at home [00:37, 02:31]. I also share my tip for where we find the best prices on crabs—its not where youd think [02:13]!
FAQ: Q: Did you get these oysters from Tomales Bay?
A: That was our plan! We were in Sonoma and really wanted to stop by Tomales Bay for oysters [00:07], but the weather was just not cooperating. We ended up finding these fresh oysters at a local store instead [00:15].
Q: You seem very careful cleaning the seafood. Is that necessary?
A: You know, Im always extra careful when I cook seafood at home [00:37]. I have a very sensitive stomach [01:59], so I always take the extra time to clean the outside of the shells really well, whether its the oysters or the crabs [00:37, 02:31].
Q: Whats the easiest way youve found to shuck oysters?
A: Im definitely not an expert [01:01], but Ive found its less likely to break the shell if I stick the knife into the very bottom, right at the hinge [01:07]. After I get it open, I like to rinse it with a little salt water to get any broken shell pieces off [01:26, 01:30].
Q: Do you eat your oysters raw or cooked?
A: Because I have a sensitive stomach, I actually prefer to put some of ours on the grill [01:59]. This video just shows us prepping them, but grilling is a great option!
Q: You mentioned Dungeness crabs were on sale. Where do you find the best prices?
A: Oh, this is my favorite tip! We found these on sale at our local grocery store [02:06], but most of the time, I find much better prices at our local Asian grocery markets [02:13]. Ive seen them for $13.99 a pound at places like Safeway, but when theyre in season, Ive found them for $4.99 or even $3.99 a pound at the Asian market [02:13, 02:22].
Q: Whats your process for cleaning the crabs?
A: Just like with the oysters, I like to take my time and clean the outside of the crabs really well [02:31]. I make sure to get between all the legs and the claws [02:31, 02:58]. After that, I use scissors to cut out all the parts we dont eat and trim off any of the sharp edges [03:35]. Can you visit Wine Country with kids without going to wineries?
Yes! We spent three full days exploring outdoor parks, hot springs, coastal bays, and glamping sites without booking a single wine tasting.
Is AutoCamp Russian River good for families?
We had a wonderful stay in the Airstream suite right next to the playground [01:06]. The kids loved the open grass areas [03:23], basketball court [02:21], and borrowing the complimentary childrens bikes [05:47].
Can you cook inside the Airstream at AutoCamp?
They dont want you cooking full meals inside the camper cabin [01:26], but there is a mini fridge and microwave [01:32], along with outdoor cast iron pans and private fire pit grills [01:39].
Why were you disappointed with the Hyatt property in Calistoga?
While the mineral pools [10:22] and grounds are pleasant, our room felt dated rather than retro [08:26], with furniture oddly blocking the entryway [09:07] for a $440/night stay [08:54].
How does the Old Faithful Geyser admission work in Calistoga?
Your admission receipt is valid for two consecutive days [06:26]. If you miss an eruption window like we did [06:33], you can explore nearby spots and return for the next cycle [06:45].
What is the best time to see the elephant seals at Point Reyes?
Check the park road hours before heading out. When we arrived around 8:30 AM [15:14], the access road was gated until 10:00 AM [15:18].
Summary of the Trip
Day 1: AutoCamp Russian River The first stop is a glamping experience at AutoCamp, staying in an Airstream suite [01:00]. The creator notes this is now a Hilton partner [00:50]. They provide a detailed look at the Airstreams interior, which includes a bed, sofa bed, and bathroom, but no indoor kitchenette [01:14, 01:26]. The site encourages outdoor grilling [01:39] and offers amenities like free yoga [04:43], sports courts [02:21], and river access [05:09]. The only complaint was the poor Wi-Fi signal [05:22].
Day 2: Calistoga & a Hotel Disappointment The second day is spent in Calistoga, known for its hot springs [05:56]. The family visits the Old Faithful of California geyser [06:04] and a nearby petrified forest [07:29]. However, the video gives a strong negative review of the Hyatt hotel they stayed at [07:57]. The creator describes the room as outdated, like a real motel [08:26], and a poor value at $440/night [08:48]. On a positive note, the hotel management was receptive to the criticism and shared their plans for future upgrades [09:43].
Day 3: Bodega Bay, Petaluma & Point Reyes The final day includes several stops:
Bodega Bay: A lunch stop for fish and chips and a well-reviewed clam chowder [12:16, 12:36].
Petaluma: Explored as a great spot for family kayaking and home to a card shop with a large Pokémon collection [13:59, 14:11].
Point Reyes: The trip concludes with visits to the scenic Cypress Tree Tunnel [14:33] and the elephant seal viewing area at the National Seashore [15:06].
