I try my best not to sound butthurt. This has given me the excuse I need to swear off Anime. I’ve kind of just been watching it here and there, but any time I engage with the community, I am always disappointed 100% of the time. I know not everyone that watches Anime and is a fan of Anime isn’t a porn addict that exhibits (intentionally) poor grammar skills, or constantly shoves their lesbian/gay pairings down the throats of the rest of the community. Anime is literally just a normal thing in Japan. But the American Anime community just isn’t worth the trouble anymore. I say it’s just a loud minority, but when even the subreddit moderators and shit are like this, I really have to wonder if the whole community is just fucked. It doesn’t help that Japanese authors/studios enable the current state of the Anime community with its ample fanservice, of which most American fans only watch Anime for. There’s also a disturbing prevalence of scenes involving sexual assault, and the closer you look, the worse it gets. Lolicon, which is basically just Anime-based child porn. Futa, which is penises on female characters. Netorare, which is characters cheating on their in-show significant other. I mean, we all get into some kinky shit, but Futa porn?! Netorare, which I assume is only a thing because these fucking weebs can’t find their own partner. And Lolicon. You can argue all you want that Lolis aren’t real people, and thus, don’t matter. It’s pedophilia. It’s honestly sad that they try to justify it just because the age of consent in Japan is 13, when most people that use the excuse aren’t even from Japan.
