Candy Soul And Soil | The Anatomy Of A Deck Collection 3 #NotSpookyButSpookyDeckWhys @CandySoulAndSoil | Uploaded October 2023 | Updated October 2024, 9 hours ago.
In this video I think about what makes a non-spooky deck feel spooky regardless? On this lead up to Samhain I have all my spooky decks out and yet other decks call and are still so perfect? What makes them work? It’s not just Autumnal decks I’m thinking of either it’s something more than that.
So I pulled all those not spooky but still spooky decks out and I asked why? What I came up with naturally has turned into part 3 of my Anatomy Of A Deck Collection video series.
If you want to do the same then please join in. There are no firm rules as I’ve said on the video just tag me and use the hashtag #NotSpookyButSpookyDeckWhys
You can use your own categories or mine or any combination of the above to talk about your decks. Have fun and thanks for watching!
My categories turned out to be….
1: Graveyard Decks….decks that conjure up the energy of spooky churches and graves
2: Ghost Decks…..decks that conjure up the feeling of spirits in the mist or dead ancestors
3: Strange Vibe Decks….. there’s just something about their energy/ voice/ feel that is weird or slightly off to you
4: Collage Decks….. the chopped up feeling!
5: Fae Decks….kidnapped in the undergrowth energy
6: Deconstructed Decks….the energy of a scientists table where objects are about to be dismembered
7: Filtered Decks…when filters on the art make the deck feel claustrophobic
8: Limited Decks….. where no break from a monochrome colour palette feels spooky
9: In Your Face Decks….. where the artwork is so busy/ colourful/ patterned you feel suffocated and unable to find a quiet spot to breathe.
10: Get Real Decks….the art is hyper real and that makes for a weird vibe.
11: Subject Matter Spooky Decks…where the actual subject matter of the decks is spooky
12: History Holder Decks….. decks that feel like history is held within them. They are way more haunted Tudor hall than sterile new-build apartment.
