The American Express Gold Card has been one of the most used of my 22 credit cards since I started this in 2021. But with the annual fee increase, is the Amex Gold still worth it? Is this the right travel credit card for you? We'll go over that in this video.
Here’s my Amex referral link. Use it and we could both earn rewards if you are approved and get a Card. Check out offers and Card benefits. americanexpress.com/en-us/referral/gold-card?ref=KIENEkwBNL&xl=cp108t

0:34 Sign Up Bonuses
As always the sign up bonuses are critical for getting the best value out of the credit card game. Sign up bonuses themselves usually pay for the cost of the annual fee for a couple years if they are good. How it's calculated is typically points can be cashed out at a value of 1 cent per point, so a 60,000 point sign up bonus would be $600 worth of value. Be sure to also check card match or search in incognito mode as sometimes the offers change. Reddit is a great place to look to to see if there are elevated offers for the cards.
1:20 Perks I Personally Get Value From
One of the biggest reasons why people and myself get the Amex Gold is for it's great multipliers on people's biggest spend category: dining and groceries, it's 4%, 4x, etc. back. Technically, without all the other card perks, if you spend $678 in dining or groceries each month for the year, your points would pay for the annual fee of the card (if you redeemed it for cash back). But there are other credits that make this effective annual fee positive for me such as the $120 dining credit, $120 Uber/Uber eats credit and $100 Resy Credit.
