In this video I'm comparing an early 1970s DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup to a later 1970s DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup. The early one has the "DIMARZIO PICKUPS" stamp on the back and the later one has the "DIMARZIO PICKUPS MADE IN U.S.A." stamp on the back. I'm also comparing them to a 1970s DiMarzio PAF pickup.
The Dimarzio Super Distortion Humbucker pickup was introduced in 1972 and features on numerous classic 1970s albums. For instance Ace Frehley and Paul Stanley of Kiss used these.
I'm putting the pickups in a 1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom that I play through a Tone King Imperial Tri Tube Preamp.
