This recording was used on the Sam and Friends performance on The Today Show on April 10, 1961. This performance later appeared on the NBC's Time And Again on May 20, 2000, which was shortened down in that broadcast.

"I believe the version of 'Yes We Have No Bananas' being lip-synced to here is by The Alley Singers (Phil Stern and Al Brennan) from the album Side By Side released in 1958. Both names are pseudonyms. Their real names were Freddy Morgan and Mousie Garner who were members of Spike Jones' band... An important clue was the utterances... 'You know Al we're all out of bananas.' 'Yes Phil it's a good thing.' That essentially led me right to it."
