Petty Officer 3rd Class Monica Roman, a health services technician at the Coast Guard Sector New York clinic, discusses her experience with the Coast Guard's new Agile "A" School system. "A" School, also written as A-School, are the Coast Guard's training schools for ratings. Similar to the MOS training schools of other branches.
This new system allowed Roman to graduate sooner than most "A" school students due to her prior experience as paramedic and EMT.
The Coast Guard is using programs like Agile "A" School and Lateral Entry to help members quickly advance if they have prior experience and certified credentials to their field.
