This is the story of the most incredible thing that happened in the backrooms at AGDQ 2015, where hundreds of speedrunners attempted to beat a World Record in a 100m dash mini-game on the Nintendo 64 cartridge International Track and Field 2000, Summer Games. In this fireside retelling of this speedrunning legend, we revisit all that led up to this remarkable piece of speedrun history, how it all went down, a behind the scenes perspective on all the machinations at play, and what happened in the aftermath of this iconic scene from a GDQ, perhaps the last great hurrah of an event in decline.
