Most young Australians want the same things previous generations had: a home, financial security, meaningful work and a family. So why do so few believe those things are still possible?
CIS Senior Fellow Parnell McGuinness presents the findings of Generation Trapped — a major new research project that identifies six distinct tribes of 18 to 34 year olds across Australia — and asks what a serious policy agenda would actually do about it. Joined by financial planner Jack Tossall and NSW Shadow Minister Jackie Munro, the panel digs into why young Australians' sense of personal agency has collapsed, which groups are most at risk, and what it will take to restore opportunity for the next generation.
Topics include housing supply, land value tax, stamp duty reform, structural tax reform, entrepreneurship, government spending, trust in institutions and the politics of winning back a generation that has largely tuned out.
