This month, the 4-Ways challenge was to turn an inlaid box, a project that requires precision and careful planning. I demonstrate turning a box of madrone burl roughed out to dry 9 years ago with an inlay of spalted maple. I explain the process of selecting appropriate wood for an inlay and how to hold it on the lathe to turn it.
