I've talked about the Thirty Minute Rule before but I'd never tested it on one project from start to finish. So I did.
What I learned: the constraint works best on the worst days, which is annoying but true.
- Day one I was sweaty from gardening and the thirty minutes felt like a gift rather than a demand.
- Day four I was so mentally drained I did my session on my lunch break and left feeling like a functioning human being, which I had not been before I started.
- Day seven I pushed too hard, turned my thirty minutes into a high-stakes deadline, and promptly had a complete buttonhole meltdown followed by a thread caddy incident.
